LOVELY LINDSEY has a sweet but sad story -- we are hopeful she will have an incredibly happy ending though, thanks to you!. We were feeding a beautiful Siamese cat who was living in the woods behind our house, hoping to trap her one day and get her spayed. Before we could befriend OR trap her, we found her lying dead one morning in the grass by the road. We live in a semi rural area so we thought either a predator had killed her or shed been hit by a car though we really did not see any trauma consistent with either. A few days later Lindsey and her brother Harley emerged from the woods -- at that time they were just at weaning age, maybe 6-8 weeks old. So, we began feeding them. At the time we named them Harley and Davidson. We spent a few weeks attempting to befriend them and though they became comfortable enough they would eat while in our presence they still kept themselves just out of our reach at all times. So, we decided to trap them so we could get them vetted/spayed/neutered. We caught them very quickly (and relatively painlessly though I know it frightened them) and found that Davidson was a she, so she became Lindsey (after a friend with the maiden name of Davidson) and we kept them in a cage for several days before transporting them to be vetted. During that time Harley was very friendly but Lindsey was extremely opposed to us touching her, greeting us with glares and hisses any time we ventured too near. A couple of weeks later we got both spayed/neutered as well as vaccinated and wormed. After they had sufficiently recovered from their surgeries, we released them back outside -- Harley reverted back to not allowing us within petting distance and of course, Lindsey remained the same...out of reach at all times. Then one day we discovered Harley had died and to this day we do not know how. We heard a loud cat fight the evening before... ON THE ROOF... but there was no trauma to his body which we could see nor any blood. But, at this point I became afraid for Lindsey so we trapped her again. She remained in a cage for several days while we attempted yet again to befriend her, but she wasnt receptive to that plan. Yet, one day we just reached out and petted her in spite of her objections and she did nothing, except hiss a bit. From that moment forward we realized she was simply more bark than bite due to her fear and we proceeded to continue petting and talking to her. Eventually we were able to release her into the house and while she still would not come up to us or even allow us to pet her, little by little she began to loosen up. In the late evening when no one else was around she would come out and allow us to feed her treats and occasionally snag a feel of her soft fur. Now you would not even recognize her -- shes under my feet so much Im often tripping over her. She still is not super fond of being picked up but she has come an incredibly long way. She rubs all over my legs constantly and loves to be petted though she is still slightly jumpy on occasion and doesnt do well when strangers come to visit. But, when I consider she has come this far in just 3-4 short months (from when we FIRST found her to now) and only about two of those months have been spent in the house, I am utterly amazed. Lindsey LOVES other cats...all of them...shes very submissive and sweet. If you have a mean, dominating, or aggressive cat, she would probably not do well with them because they frighten her. Otherwise she loves everyone -- cats, kittens, dogs, puppies, etc...Little kids would probably be a bit loud and rambunctious for her, but she would probably get used to them eventually though it might take her a bit longer to come out of her shell. So, ideally her family would probably not have any really young ones so she could overcome her skittish nature as quickly as possible, but dont let that stop you -- the right family will offer her enough love to overcome any obstacles. She is so beautiful and so soft...not so cuddly yet, but this is one little girl who once she warmed up to you would be your baby for the rest of her life. Shes just waiting for HER family who will give her the love, time and patience so she can really blossom into a confident young lady who will give you tons of love forever. Could that possibly be you? We will expect a $25 re-homing fee, which is negotiable for the right family/home with vet references. We are located in Muskogee, but can travel as far as Eufaula and occasionally are in the Tulsa area as well. Email or text are best, thanks!!
