LOW INCOME FILIPINOS CAN APPLY FOR FAMILY SUPPORT INCOME. It has come to my notice that some Filipinos surviving on €350 a week with children havent applied for family suplement income. I have also noticed that Filipinos on €350 a week are trying to invite children as dependents. They should be aware that the visa application examining officer can easily refuse applications for such visas if he thinks that the family will then be able to avail of a few hundred euros extra of taxpayers money once they come to live in Ireland. CALCULATING YOUR FAMILY SUPPORT INCOME FROM JANUARY 2011 AND TAKING THIS INTO CONSIDERATION WHEN INVITING CHILDREN AS DEPENDENTS. If you have two children and your income is, for instance €380 per week, you will be entitled to get €247.20 of taxpayers money every week because it will be calculated that this is your entitlement if you are earning less than €602 per week, which is the threshold limit for two children. CALCULATED AS FOLLOWS. Your earnings are €380 per week and therefore your Family Income Support payment is calculated as follows:- Income limit……………………………………………………………… €602 Your weekly assessable income is €380 divided by 2 = - €190 = €412 Your weekly payment will be 60% of €412 = €247.20 (this is based on January 2011 limits) HOW CAN YOU QUALIFY FOR FIS ? 1. You have to work 19 hours or more per week (that’s their definition of full time employment). 2. Have a weekly “FAMILY” income below €602 for two children or €506 for one child. 3. Children should be under 18, or 18 to 22 if in full time education. 4. You have to add together the hours worked by yourself and your partner. 5. Your childrens’ benefit payment and rent allowance are not effected.
