LOYOLTY HAS ITS REWARDS... This is a phrase most closely associated with customers who show loyalty to a credit card or store, where purchases are rewarded with additional discounts or offers for future purchases. In Knox County, this reward system has been taken to another level. For almost two years now, Knox County Council members Terry Johnson and Mike Thompson have continually shown their support for any and all proposals for spending, as presented by the Commissioners. One only needs to attend one County Council meeting to see these two council members continually look to the commissioners for guidance in making almost any decision. The exchange of text messages during the meeting has even been observed. Why is there such loyalty to these excessive spending plans? What is their motivation to attempt to bankrupt the county? Well, recently, the picture has become a little clearer. Attached, you will find a picture of a recently upgraded road. A road that has just this week received a chip and seal procedure. This road, aptly named Thompson Road, just so happens to be where councilman Mike Thompson resides. Loyalty has its rewards. So, did councilman Terry Johnson receive the same loyalty reward? The answer is no. Johnson lives on a city street. Even though the commissioners have no problem paving a private road for their friends, they will not pave or upgrade a city street. Councilman Johnson received his loyalty reward in a less direct fashion. Johnsons mother in law was hired at the Knox County Highway Department. Loyalty has its rewards. One can only imagine the loyalty rewards that the commissioners will bestow upon Wayne Thomann, if he is elected. Already the benefactor of holding campaign fundraisers for the Mayor of Vincennes and Commissioner Holscher, via contracts with his wifes employment, Lochmueller Group Engineering, Thomann stands to gain so much more if elected. This was apparent during this weeks candidate forum, held last Tuesday evening. You see, Thomann was the ONLY candidate who refused to say that he would oppose the implementation of a wheel tax. Why would he be the only one not to say no to the wheel tax? Easy, because Lochmueller Group, and thus his wife, would gain even more of our hard earned tax dollars. Loyalty has its rewards. Loyalty rewards usually means receiving benefits for spending your hard earned money with a particular business. Loyalty rewards with the Knox County Commissioners means receiving the benefits of all of our hard earned tax dollars.
