LP&L crews have continued to work throughout the day to restore outages remaining in the aftermath of last night’s major weather event. The system was up and running and all major lines had been re-energized this morning after every crew members worked a full twelve hour shift. Today’s work has focused on the longer task of repairing all remaining individual outages. As stated at the noon hour, this task will continue through the afternoon and into the night. “Crews are working as quickly as possible to complete what is a long task; however outage calls continue to come in on the system,” said LP&L Public Information Officer Chris Sims. “Our crews will not cease working until every single outage has been repaired. These jobs are being completed at an incredible speed but the sheer volume of calls means the task will continue well into the night for some of the more complicated restorations.” “LP&L will not rest until the entire system is restored but we appreciate the patience and understanding of our customers. Although we have made tremendous progress thus far, LP&L must strongly encourage all city residents to exercise great caution when it comes to downed or suspicious looking power lines. If anyone encounters a scenario that appears dangerous please call 911 and LP&L so that we can send out a crew member to address it.” At this hour, LP&L can report the following: · There are currently 686 outages reported. · Sixty poles remain in need of repair after suffering severe damage. · At the height of last night’s outage 19,130 customers reported outages. Any remaining residents experiencing issues should contact LP&L at (806) 775- 2509 from now until 10pm. We have staff working after hours in order to receive your calls on this line. Customers may also choose to contact LP&L (806) 775-2555 anytime day or night.
