LRC I feel there needs to be structural changes with the LRC. - TopicsExpress

LRC I feel there needs to be structural changes with the LRC. The LRO needs more interaction with the duties of the council. The council should receive an annual agenda from the LRO then given the proper autonomy to carry out the instructions. The council cant have its own separate agenda. The LRO and the LRC should be of the same mind with targets and goals. This is in the best interest of the region because operations will be far more smoother and more effective. I plan on holding the LRC AGM in January 2014, with a regional social meeting occurring in August 2014. This would be a debate and a BBQ. Two other meetings would occur in tangent with separate branches hosting a policy session each time during the year. The year would look like this; Jan 2014 - AGM with canvassing workshop. Spring - Policy session with local branch. End of August - Social with debate and BBQ. Late in 2014 - Policy session with second local branch. Jan 2015 - AGM. In connection with the LRC AGM in January 2014, I will host a workshop for canvassing. With existing and new councillors giving their experience on what they have learnt knocking on the doors. It is daunting for any new member of YFG to knock on doors to discuss policy or any local issues. So at least this can build some confidence in them and allow them to practice prior. In my many years in YFG I have never seen a workshop like it, especially since we as an organisation are heavily dependent on as foot soldiers. To this day I still remember the very first door I knocked on and the negative reaction I received so I do empathise with new members and recognise the severe requirement for training. This will deal with how to handle aggressiveness and anger from the public, what to do if the person has a problem that needs attention etc.
