LSU John P. Laborde Energy Law Center John P. Laborde Endowed Chair and Nesser Family Endowed Chair The LSU Law Center invites nominations for and applications from distinguished scholars for two endowed chairs, the John P. Laborde Double Endowed Chair in Energy Law and the Nesser Family Distinguished Endowed Chair in Energy Law. The chairs may be held separately or concurrently by a single holder. The Law Center seeks candidates for appointment for the 2015-16 academic year, beginning in August 2015. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Ideally, a chair candidate will be a tenured member of the legal academy with a demonstrated record of distinguished teaching and scholarship illuminating complex and important issues in one or more of the many fields comprising modern energy law and policy. Favorable consideration will be given to candidates who also have demonstrated scholarly achievement in a relevant, non-legal discipline, such as economics, engineering, geology, physics, biological or environmental science, or finance. Essential for the chair holder(s) are the interpersonal skills, leadership capability, entrepreneurial drive, and vision needed to assist in developing the LSU Energy Law program. In recognition of this unusual combination of accomplishment and initiative, we welcome candidates with highly relevant experience and demonstrated academic or scholarly interest who have distinguished themselves at the policy-making or decisional level of government or industry or in a private firm. ABOUT THE CENTER: The John P. Laborde Energy Law Center was created in August 2012 to prepare lawyers to address the full range of 21st century energy law in all of its manifestations- including traditional oil and gas law, alternative sources of energy, the operation of energy markets, federal and state energy regulation, energy transactions, international energy ventures, energy finance and taxation, and environmental law. The Energy Law Center is the hub of a campus-wide initiative uniting legal studies with the deep assets of the LSU main campus and the State of Louisiana itself in engineering, geology, coastal and environmental studies, economics, finance, and other related disciplines. Collaborative and cross-enrollment opportunities for courses with the LSU A&M campus are in development within content areas that will enhance the knowledge of students concentrating in energy law. Located in the center of the beautiful LSU campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and in the heart of a state that is one of the worlds leading natural laboratories for modern energy studies, LSU Law is ideally situated to further advance its traditional strength in energy law into a renowned inter-disciplinary program.
