LSU’s Leonard Fournette should be a sight to behold Updated: August 30, 2014 1:10AM HOUSTON — The sweet stench of college football is in the air, in our lungs, in our eyes and hair and maybe even on the bottoms of our shoes. Take a whiff of the 10 things I’ll be looking for on the first Saturday of the season: 1. Can’t wait to see the first collegiate steps of the next big thing, LSU freshman running back Leonard Fournette. The Tigers are facing Wisconsin in Houston in what should be an extraordinarily physical affair, and Fournette continues to be likened to Adrian Peterson — and Bo Jackson — for his brutish running style and breakaway speed. 2. Speaking of Wisconsin, guess how many new starters the Badgers have in their defensive front seven? Try everybody. Let’s see if they can play. The season depends on it for one of the favorites in the Big Ten West. 3. Back on the home front, Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald has to like his chances to get to 9-0 in season openers.
