LUKE SCOTT RETURNS TO NEST Ex-Magpie Luke Scott will be returning to the Magpies’ nest for the 2015 season after spending several seasons in the NEAFL, firstly with Mt Gravatt and then last season with Redland. Luke joined the club in under 16s from Jindalee and was the Maurie McNamee Medal winner for Best and Fairest in the clubs Under 18s premiership team in 2004. He soon graduated to the senior team where he was one of the leading players in the club’s First grade premierships in 2006 and 2008, kicking two last quarter goals including the final goal of the 2008 Grand Final which put the Pies in front only minutes from the final siren. He was named Best Finals player in 2008 and also won the BG Award in 2009. He was consistently in the top five players each year in the Bill Peirce medal count. He was highly regarded by opposition coaches and was therefore closely watched by opposition players in the club’s 2 years in the AFLQ in 2009-10 and when the Pies decided to drop to the Division 1 competition with the formation of the NEAFL in 2011 , Luke decided to join his brother Andrew—also a Pies junior-- at Mt Gravatt to continue playing at the highest level . He played with Redland in 2014 when Mt Gravatt pulled out of the NEAFL and was consistently named one of the best players each week. He started his career as a half forward and impressed all with his silky skills and reading of the play but recently has been playing across half back in a key role on opposition key forwards. Luke is one of the club’s favourite sons and all at the Nest are excited by his return to the club. He will bring strong leadership skills and will be a vital part as the Magpies build their list for the coming season.
