La Borinquena – the real and revolutionary Puerto Rican national - TopicsExpress

La Borinquena – the real and revolutionary Puerto Rican national anthem. First sung immediately after the 1868 battle known as El Grito De Lares. It was written by the historical figure Lola Rodriguez De Tio. The U.S. installed colonial government of Puerto Rico revised the lyrics of this song and turned it into a docile and conforming expression that depicts Puerto Ricans as happy subjects of U.S. colonialism. LONG LIVE THE REVOLUTIONARY EXAMPLE OF EL GRITO DE LARES! QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO LIBRE!
