La Dolfina kicks off Hurlingham Open against Miramar All of the rain delays amounted to a short rest between tournament games for the winners and finalists as La Dolfina (Adolfo Cambiaso, David Stirling, Pablo MacDonough and Juan Martin Nero), the winner of the Tortugas Open on Monday kicks off the second leg of Argentina polo’s Triple Crown, the Hurlingham Open, on Saturday, October 18. They will face a 28-goal Miramar team (Alejandro Muzzio, Ignacio Toccalino, Marcos Di Paola and Jaime Huidobro) that played their last game nearly two weeks ago. The 2PM opener will be followed by a 4:30PM contest between Alegria (Polito Pieres, Hilario Ulloa, Lucas Monteverde and Alfredo Capella Barabucci) and La Aguada/Las Monjitas (Lucas James, Cristian Laprida, Eduardo Novillo Astrada and Alejandro Novillo Astrada). Alegria will be entering the Hurlingham Open with a slightly alter lineup. Team captain Fred Mannix was injured in their semifinal game against Ellerstina in the Tortugas Open and suffered a broken finger on his right (mallet) hand and will be sidelined for at least two weeks. The 9-goaler will be replaced by 8-goaler Alfredo Capella Barabucci. Mannix is thought to be able to return to the Alegria lineup in time for the Argentine Open. Two more Hurlingham Open games have been slated for play on Sunday, October 19 when Tortugas Open finalist Ellerstina (Facundo Pieres, Gonzalo Pieres Jr., Mariano Aguerre and Nicolas Pieres) plays the veteran 31-goal Chapaleufu lineup (Pepe Heguy, Nachi Heguy, Francisco Bensadon and Eduardo Heguy). The second match of the day will have La Aguada/Las Monjitas (Lucas James, Cristian Laprida, Eduardo Novillo Astrada and Alejandro Novillo Astrada) battling Magual (Alejandro Muzzio, Ignacio Toccalino, Marcos Di Paola and Jaime Garcia Huidobro). The eight teams competing for the Hurlingham Open Championship have been divided into two Leagues with La Dolfina, Alegria, La Aguada/Las Monjitas and Miramar in League A. League B consists of Ellerstina, La Aguada, Magual and Chapaleufu. La Dolfina enters the competition as the 2103 defending champion and the recent winner of both the Jockey Club Open and the Tortugas Open. The 40-goal team from Las Canuelas swept the Argentine high-goal season last year winning all three legs of the Triple Crown (Tortugas Open, Hurlingham Open and the Argentine Open).
