La Horquetta/Talparo says Anil must go The La Horquetta/Talparo - TopicsExpress

La Horquetta/Talparo says Anil must go The La Horquetta/Talparo Constituency of the People’s National Movement is demanding the resignation or dismissal of Sports Minister, Anil Roberts, after he presided over a Ministry that has stolen the dreams and aspirations of the thousands of athletes who saw the Life Sport Programme as a legitimate vehicle through which they could channel their sporting ambitions. The revelations contained in the report of the Central Audit Committee of the Ministry of Finance are especially hurtful to the residents of La Horquetta since it contains reports that $200.000 was paid for the maintenance of the La Horquetta football field when every resident of La Horquetta is aware that all the playing fields are maintained by the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation. What is even more egregious is that at the time the payments were recorded, the playing fields which fell under the then People’s Partnership administration of the (TPRC), were left in a state of disrepair. In fact, the La Horquetta Sporting Academy, one of the top football teams in the area, was forced to play its games outside of the community given the deterioration of the playing fields. It is disconcerting to discover that Minister Roberts was presiding over a Ministry that was paying exorbitant sums for the maintenance of the grounds while genuine sportsmen were not only suffering with poorly maintained facilities but were struggling to get funds to support their legitimate sporting needs. The Constituency demands the resignation of the Sports Minister and believes that every day that he is allowed to remain in office is an affront to the young people of Trinidad and Tobago and to the population generally. We hold the Prime Minister responsible for this damage to the country’s reputation and call upon her as a matter of urgency to take the necessary steps to repair the damage caused to the moral and spiritual values that are important to us as country.
