La Isla de las Muñecas (Doll Island) Xochimilco, Mexico Over 50 years ago, a man named Don Julian Santana moved onto a small island in the Xochimilco canals. Some say that his young daughter drowned and that, to honor her memory, he began hanging dolls around his home and the small island he had claimed. Don Julian himself drowned in 2001 in the same area his daughter is believed to have met her doom, but his unique and macabre memorial still remains for many to enjoy.
