La Jolla Shores (Frid.) Time: am Temp: 64 Viz: almost endless 40’ +/- some haze N. of VP Surface: Lakes wish to be so flat The superb viz and highlight critter action was just so great. Fat Freddy the Halibut was resting, a Sheepcrab sporting the standard algae chapeau was communing with the wall, a Sarc. Fringehead coughed up a fur ball (or scale ball…) and other little critters were out. Highlights were the big bait balls scurrying, 2 Yellowtail casually swimming by while stalking their prey. More bait ball action as a Sea Lion was in hunting mode. Very cool to watch the fish splinter off into different groups as the Sea Lion pierced their school, with twists and turns. Good thing the viz was good to capture the action, but too bad the camera was struggling against the haze in the distance. A great, great dive. vimeo: https://vimeo/113155570 jackie
