La Jolla Shores Time: night Temp: 58 Viz: as far as lights would shine Surface: so flaaaat Kicked out with the guys tonight into Neptune’s domain and almost walked to the canyon edge with the super low tide, and ridiculously flat surface which seemed to meld into the black sky background. A cool sight. The viz was stellar, and it was dead calm even at depth in canyon. Did the usual tour, with the usual critters out and about. Highlights include a very cool colorful Crab (either Brown or Yellow?) marching on the slope, several Sheepcrab, little Fringeheads, Cowries, small Kelpfish in the big kelp north of VP, small schools of Jack Macks, and the usual slumbering Ocean Whitefish and Brown Rockfish. Many Hemphills of all sizes were also out on the kelp. In the shallows, small Cusk Eels hurried to bury themselves, and the Swimming Crabs waved their claws. Despite developing an uncomfortable and wet wardrobe malfunction which shortened my dive a bit, it was still a great dive. jackie
