La Serenissima ~ a story of love. ( Supernatural Fiction ) EXCERPT ~ Chapter XIII A letter from the Vatican. The bishop and his wife were God-fearing. God was their lives. They lived for him, but they also believed that through debate and discussions peacefully they could win over those who might otherwise be their enemy. All were working on the unconvinced archbishop for change, imploring him through discussion day after day and night after night for any credible reasons not to side with them. I knew he wouldnt. Deep-down I had met his make before. He didnt like me and thought that a woman such as me had no right in any part of something miraculous happening. And, sad to say, he was a woman hater, even after I had survived my torment in hell and survived to tell the tale. What other proof could he need that I wasnt a bad woman? The other nine fought against their own beliefs, their own religion - which was everything to them - and their own conscience to help put things right under the guidance of their God. It was black and white, good or bad: you had to act one way or the other. All sect members were prophesied by Maro. She foretold their names even though she didnt know them personally. Each Holy Council member had his use for the prophecy to go forward, apart from the last one. The remainder of the Council often questioned his validity and had serious doubts regarding his place within the holy sect, for - not only on this occasion, but many other times when his blessing was needed and it was not given - he never had compassion within him. He hindered the Holy Council until they grew tired of him..... Tracy-ann Martin.
