LaZouche Custom airsoft HurricanE TM Kimber Crimson Carry/Covert II replica: I had a few spare parts knocking about and as I also still have the HurricanE Kimber Covert II kit to hand I thought id improvise and come up with something a little different to the norm regards Kimber kits available. RS Kimber Crimson Carry: The Crimson Carry full size 1911 is one of three options available with Crimson Trace laser grips fitted, 5inch, 4inch and compact versions. They are all two tone with a black slide and chromed frame. The Crimson Trace laser grips are activated via a small pad on the frame strap where your index finger would sit when firing the gun, thus when you grip the pistol the laser comes on illuminating your target with pin point accuracy in any conditions. The Crimson carry series were introduced back in 2008 after Kimber aquired Crimson Trace. They then later on gave rise, along with the Warrior series, to the Covert II line of guns. Combining both function and style the Crimson Carry series are 1911s worthy of anyones armoury. The airsoft replica: Though strickly not accurate to the RS pistol, not having swept rear sights and a 3-hole trigger, it comes as close as I can to it by just using parts from the spares box. I was going to fit it with a TM chromed outer plastic barrel for reliability but found it kept sticking within the slide so dumped it in favour of the original HurricanE outer steel barrel which works very well and required no bedding in to cycle reliably, confusing to me as all previous metal outer barrels from HurricanE have had issues. The extended guide rod and plug are by Nineball and I would suggest you drill a hole in each half to help with tightening it up upon assembly plus use threadlock on the screw thread as it will work loose over time. The same goes for the rear sight grub screw but dont over tighten it as it will cause the BBH to dip and thus pinch the frame rails. Ive used the following parts to build this pistol: TM MEU internals. HurricanE Covert II slide and outer barrel. HurricanE wood effect Laser grips. HurricanE Warrior style grip safety. Nineball extended guide rod and plug. Guarder 2-hole Kimber style trigger. LCT checkered MSH. Guarder serrated mag catch. LCT checkered slide lock. TM combat hammer (polished on both sides). Custom made single NightHawk style thumb safety. TM MEU plastic frame (sprayed silver). TM Allen key style grip screws (polished). Conclusion: Simple little custom project and makes the Covert II kit a bit more stylish for Kimber pistol enthusiasts. The laser grips work well but are not that good and require more luck than judgement to gain any accuracy from them. The real joy is the sound you get as the slide is racked, a real steel click-clack even with the plastic outer frame, mmm heaven :-) Thanks for watching and remember guys and girls...
