Laal Banned, by PTA (pun intended) Hum aah bhi karte hain to ho jate hain badnaam (Laal) Wo qatal bhi karte hain to charcha nahin hota (Taliban) I contacted PTA today and they have confirmed that they have blocked Laals Facebook page. They said please file a formal complaint through email and we will respond. I have done so and also written to the heads of PTA to look into the matter. I have reason to believe that PTA has blocked Laal on the complaint of a higher authority. I want to express my thanks to Mohammad Jibran Nasir of Dawn & FM103 for taking me on-air immediately on the issue. Thanks to Saleem Jamali from NSF Sindh for the poster below. Many others have also contacted me and offered support solidarity and I will respond to them all as soon as I get time. I want to thank all of you (too many to name right now) for this support. It gives us the courage to continue and it tells us that what we doing is meaningful to people. Too many times, one lose sight of that in the daily grind of the struggle. I want to also thank our Laal admin team that has stood by through thick and thin through every difficulty. Muneeb, Ehtesham, Farrukh, Sadia, Fayeza, Salrab, Younas, Beena, Anita, Humayun, Shahid, Waqas, Fahad and so many others who have done a lot of work for this cause. But only Mahvash, my wife, can really tell you guys the insane amount of time I spent on Facebook to build up Laals wall to over 400,000. It has been her number 1 complaint in our marriage (secretly I suspect shes probably happy its gone). It took me five years of really really hard work to get it up to that level. And so many people would say to me what a waste of time, do some real work. It hurts that PTA was able to take it away with a flick of the switch. But more importantly it shows that even though our friends never paid it that much attention but it obviously didnt make our opposition very happy to see progressives gaining support. I said to my mother (jokingly in Punjabi) Ma establishment pay gaye aye sanu, ki kariya She said Ki karna aye, una nu pay ja. Ma ji nay key diya hai, ab kya dar aur kya khauf. We will struggle for our democratic rights.
