Labor Day is always a work day for me. I lost my older Brother - TopicsExpress

Labor Day is always a work day for me. I lost my older Brother Kevin E Miller on Labor Day September 1 2003. He was my best friend, yup my very best friend. We talked about EVERYTHING. He was my first boss at Hardees, taught me how to mentally think mathematically and the ability to really understand and appreciate music in terms of timbre, instrumentation, and theory. Every time I hear a song from Armstrong to Gershwin to Bernstein to Ellington to James Taylor to EWF to ELO to Hammerstein to Porter to Presley to Patsy Cline to MOTOWN and back to Gershwin. When you guys read what I have written about a song here, blame Kevin. Kevin probably had the purest heart of any friend and brother. OK another September 1st 2008 another Labor Day my mother Ms Effie Fox my Beautiful mother left us to clean up this world. She taught me LOVE. She protected me from EVERYTHING. I love my sisters cooking BUT no one has that flavor of my mothers cooking. Ms Effie is not free from guilt. She introduced and taught me the love of music ( I actually remember 1963, yup 2 yrs old). I saw how it affected her and its effect on me. Its as easy as I breathe. She knew I had something for Andy Williams. You may have noticed that I play quite a bit of Andy Williams from those years. The same applies to my favorite pianist of all PETER NERO (a friend of mine now- very cool). Anything from Motavani to Lennon/ McCartney to Dinah Washington to MGM musicals to Roger Williams to Burt Bacharach to .... blame Ms. Effie. I especially loved hugging my mom goodnight every night and saying I LOVE YOU MAMA. I guess thats where I picked up that trait. She made it so so easy to LOVE. No ones potato salad comes close. No need to cook greens and forget it with roast beef (roast beast- Michael Owen Morales) would call it. The last song I played on an electric piano for my mother when she was in the hospice was THREE TIMES A LADY. That she was (IS). The tears are more joyous these days but the memory never diminishes. I sincerely hope that my heart is only but a fraction as my 2 jewels here. Yup, I learned fractions from Kevin, blame him. May da gud Lord tak a likin ta ya, AS I, YOU- I learned that from my dad. Well Ive got to post at least 2 of my Andy Williams songs. MUCH LOVE & Thanks for reading.
