Labour Day. This is the day that always was the start of a new school year. In the evening Id walk around with a glass of wine and say good-bye to summer, to the gardens, to the trees and think about the magic of the new school year with children who could hardly sleep that night as they thought about new pencils, a new class, a new teacher. I too found it hard to sleep with the promise of new challenges and new personalities, the excitement of handing out those pencils and exercise books and the scent of new boxes of Crayola crayons and the heartbeat of a new school year. Tonight instead, I go to my puppy kindergarten class with new baby puppies, all shapes and sizes, new challenges, new personalities and the promise of a great start for these little creatures with so much promise. I then get to take my own little band of brothers to their class to build their futures. Life is good!
