It targets what are known as dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repeated muscular contractions, such as frowning and squinting. It is an injectable treatment derived from a purified protein and works by relaxing the muscles that cause these dynamic wrinkles, giving your face a more relaxed and refreshed appearance. In addition, treatment is so quick and easy that you can often have it done over lunch. Where can BOTOX COSMETIC® be used? Treatment areas include the frown lines between the eyebrows, the horizontal lines that run across the forehead, and the crows feet around the outer eyes. Frequently Asked Questions Will my face still have expressions? Your treatment is intended to enhance the way you look, not change it. When administered by an experienced physician, you can still smile, frown and be expressive. The treatment only relaxes the muscle beneath the lines at the point of injection, so the other elements of your facial expression remain active. It also has no effect on the sensory nerves, so yo will have normal feeling in the treated area. Are BOTOX COSMETIC® treatments safe? BOTOX® has been licensed in Canada since 1990 as a safe effective treatment for a variety of medical conditions. BOTOX COSMETIC® has been approved for use since 2011. What is the treatment like? A tiny amount of BOTOX COSMETIC® is injected very precisely into the muscle being treated. A very fine needle and a small amount of liquid is used so the pain associated with the injection is minimal. How long does a treatment take? The procedure is quick, simple, and theres no downtime. Following a facial analysis by your physician and a discussion of your desired outcome, the procedure itself only takes about 10-15 minutes to perform. How much does a treatment cost? The costs associated with ta treatment are dependent on the amount of product needed and the areas of the face being treated. Difficulty in swallowing food, ranging from very mild to severe, can persist for two to thee weeks after injection, or longer. Are there creams that are better then BOTOX COSMETIC®? There is no scientific evidence that supports that creams work better then BOTOX COSMETIC®. Creams work well on the surface of the skin.
