Ladies and Gentlemen, Last night I was awarded my first prize in an art competition, ever. It was the Jayne Wilson Memorial Art Prize, awarded by the Salvation Army First Floor Program in Wollongong. This (inaugural) exhibition and prize was organised as a focus around the commemoration of Jayne, who had dedicated her boundless energy and the last years of her life to good works in the community. The prize was judged by members of her family, who were looking for a work that spoke to them of their loved one’s spirit and enthusiasm for life. I feel incredibly moved that my work resonated with them in this profound way, and by what it means to me for my work to be recognised and celebrated by this particular group of people – after all the prizes I’ve entered over all these years. It is simply wonderful – and on my resume it will always remind me to keep the energy in my heart and never lose touch with the real reason I create – to share genuine and authentic communion with my fellow human beings. I am so full of love right now! Thank you, everyone, for all your support over the years! x
