Ladies and gentlemen, friends and supporters in the 22nd District... Thank you. On behalf of Louise and I, we would like to express our most sincere gratitude to everyone who came out to vote on Tuesday and who secured for me a second term in service to you in the PA State Senate. It is extraordinarily gratifying to witness the affirmation and support of so many voters who were pleased with the work Ive been doing over the past four years and who expressed trust in my judgment as a legislator over the next four years. My most sincere promise to all of you is to continue to adhere to the core values I expressed when I first sought this office -- unselfish leadership; responsiveness to constituents; political courage; problem solving: and civility and interdependence. While the election on Tuesday resulted in a win for Tom Wolf for Governor, it also resulted in a loss of three Democratic seats in the PA State Senate, rendering a strong Republican majority at 30 to 20. Notwithstanding my position in a minority caucus, I am convinced that the citizens of Pennsylvania demand effective governance by ALL elected officials to improve job growth, public education funding and the overall quality of life in this Commonwealth. To those ends, I will, as I have in my first term in office, engage my Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle to advance good public policy and improve the economic performance of our state. No matter what party we serve and irregardless of majority or minority status, the needs and aspirations of our citizens are urgent and paramount and we need to work together to meet them. I want also to take a moment to express particular gratitude to Betty Burns and Atty. Judy Price, who served as co-chairs for the Friends of Senator John Blake (FofSJB) Committee; to Carol Thomas, who served so ably and effectively as my re-election campaign manager; to Joseph Alu, CPA, who serves as Treasurer for the FofSJB Committee; to my sister Teresa Newberry who, with Joe, ensures my compliance with all campaign finance reporting to the PA State Department; and, of course, to George, Stacey, Jill, Emily, and the entire team at Sweda Advertising for all of their help this year leading up to a resounding win on Tuesday night. I would be remiss if I didnt express deep thanks to all members of my family and to all the volunteers who dedicated so much time and effort on my behalf -- The Sisters; Jim Rodway, the Swift family -- and so many others -- and finally, to all those who so generously contributed to my committee -- investing in me so I could continue to work for ALL residents in ALL 47 communities of the 22nd District. Thanks so much. God bless you. Now lets get to work.... John P. Blake
