Ladies and gentlemen, noble people of GUT, the night is dark and - TopicsExpress

Ladies and gentlemen, noble people of GUT, the night is dark and full of terrors and I send these dark news around through a raven with dark wings. I regret to inform you that the noble warriors of the 3rds encountered an enemy too strong today in the face of the Aberdonians. They chanted war songs and cast spells beyond our comprehension. A fine example of that is that, as Ali put it, the rain they had conjured moved. Yan and I played the doubles match of the ages. The balls were flying over the net like flaming arrows fly over the Wall. I was the only one to drop serve and to top that off I was serving at 5:6 in the second set tiebreak which was also the point that led to our defeat. Fortunately enough I have a solid shoulder injury as an excuse for my poor performance. Nobody is quite certain what happened during Ali and James doubles. One thing is for certain - Ali managed to play all the smashes and James took all the low volleys but despite their valiant efforts the white aberdonians managed to snatch that match away as well. My singles match was filled with more screams than actual tennis. My opponent kept chanting his spells and conjuring his magic and even attempted to cripple me by hitting me with a ball in a very specific area, I on the other hand kept yelling a counterspell of my own: You won the doubles, you injured me and you broke my serve! all in bulgarian of course. Whether it was thanks the language or the chant itself I somehow managed to pull off a victory. James wasnt as lucky. No matter how hard he hit the ball and no matter what direction he hit it in, it always came back. It was as if his opponent had a reflection spell and knowing the powers of the mystical aberdonians, he probably did. Despite using a tool of great power (my racket) Ali didnt manage to overcome his opponent either. He fought well but the moving rain was too strong and overpowered him in the end. Yan attempted to use magic of his own in his single-combat challenge. He performed ritual dances and cast spells with his racket with the potency of a wizard from the Harry Potter universe. Nevertheless, the dark aberdonian magic proved too strong and even though Yan won the first set he was overpowered in a dramatic match tie-break. Overall great effort by the boys! Everyone played well and in the end it was bad weather and a bit of luck that tipped the scales over to Aberdeens side. All I can say is that winter may be coming but a Glaswegian always pays his debts. Some of us ended up in Viper and thats always a good place to drown ones sorrows! See you all on Friday at tennis!
