Ladies, given it is October, Breast Cancer Awareness month, I wanted to share something I just heard. We normally are used to getting our mammogram at the same time we get our annual well-woman exam. Well, yesterday at the imaging center I just started going to, they told me that they recommend their patients get the mammo 6 months away from the annual exam. The reason is that this way, you are examined at 6 months by your doc and then imaged (mammo) 6 months later. As the tech explained to me, a lot can happen in a year. I know that for a fact because I know someone whose annual checkup and mammo were clean and a year later that was not the case. I do think I will be taking this six-month approach.
