Lady Railroaders finish 4th at the GAC Track Meet The Durand Lady Railroaders finished 4th in the Red Division at the GAC Championships on Tuesday evening in Webberville. The team finished with 93 points, 1 point behind 3rd place Perry and 25 points behind champion Mt. Morris. Leading the way for the team was junior Bonnie Emmerling. Emmerling won two events and scored 28 points on the day for her team. Emmerling won the 100 in 12.7 and the 400 in 1:03.5. She was also 2nd in the 200 in 27.14. “Emmerling is willing to compete for the team wherever she is needed, and her efforts showed through today,” said Coach Joe Whitman Freshman Gabrielle Kolm followed up her Regional Title last week with a Conference title in the high jump. Kolm jumped 411 on the day. Gabrielle has steadily improved every meet this year. As the championship portion of the season has arrived, she has continued to excel, said Coach Bruce Spaulding. The team got a great boost from thrower Meaghan Nanasy. Nanasy was 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 301 and 3rd in disc with 811. Whitman said, “Nanasy also plays soccer, so she comes in after soccer practice each day. It takes a special kind of student to successfully balance two sports, and Meaghan has done a great job this year.” Senior Madison Fiebernitz finished her season on a high note, finishing 2nd in the high jump (411) and 4th in the 100 meters (13.77). Fiebernitz and Emmerling teamed with Jayden Tracey and Madison Lintz to finish 2nd in the 400 relay in 53.2. Tracey also placed in both hurdle races, finishing 3rd in the 100 hurdles (18.49) and 2nd in the 300 hurdles (50.8). With the regular season coming to a close, Gabrielle Kolm looks ahead to the MHSAA State Finals, which be held on May 31st.
