Lady on the train: (snatches her headsets out of her ears) hold up! She is reading a chapter book!? Shayla and I whip our necks to the left! Me: Me yes. Lady in the train: how old is she? Me: she turned 6 in June. (She proceeds to tell whomever shes on the phone with that shes sitting next to a lil girl that just turn 6 and shes reading a chapter book) Lady on the train: my son is 5 and a half and cant read. He hates to read. He cried the last day of school when his teacher gave him a book. He said he didnt want a book. She needs to meet my son so he can see her read. Me: awww hell get there. Every kids learns at their own pace. Lady on the train: oh its because hes a boy. Boys dont like school. Theyre lazy. Its because shes a girl. Shes gonna be smart. Boys are different. Me: I smile. (a million thoughts are running thru my mind. Not sure if I should tell her how wrong she is. How her thoughts are powerful. How shes stupid for saying such a thing. Should I tell her Aaron is an amazing reader as well. I digress.) Sometimes I dont feel like it universe. Why do I come across these people? I know what I was supposed to say but I just didnt feel like it. #silence
