Lafayette Hill is named after the Marquis de Lafayette, a French aristocrat that volunteered to serve as a general for the American Army during the Revolutionary War. Only 21 years old at the time, Lafayette was credited with saving the lives of many of his soldiers and successfully evading a British attempt to encircle his forces. The site of the battle, Barren Hill, was later renamed Lafayette Hill in his honor. #TBT
