Lagos Assembly Passes 192 motions Lagos State House Assembly has passed 192 motions and bills in the last 365 days of governance in the state. This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political and Legislative Matters, Hon. Muslim Folami during the press briefing of the agency to commemorate the 7th year of Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola led administration in the State. The motions passed were in English and Yoruba (the major languages spoken in the state) and had been forwarded to different Ministries, Department and agencies of the State to act on them as they affect them. The Special Adviser said through the Bureau the Governor has assented to 25 bills within the last one year some of which are; the Muslims and Christians Pilgrims welfare Boards. Law 2013, Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation Law, 2013, Cremation law 2013 among others while about 14 other bills are at committee stage. Hon. Folami said the harmony achieved between the State executive council and the legislative arm could be traced to the parley established between his Bureau and the two arms of government by having a designated officer from the Bureau attending the plenary sessions of the Assembly and reporting back to the executive council through the Bureau. The Bureau has also been facilitating the hosting of breakfast meetings with the Governor and the members of the State House of Assembly where legislative matters are tabled for executive cohesion and clarity which often form part of the State policies and Legislative proceedings of the house. Also the Bureau organizes the quarterly meetings with the National Assembly members representing the State in both the Senate and the House of representatives to discussing national burning issues, as well as State Government policies that need national attention which are translated into legislative support in uplifting the performance of the State Government.
