Lake Urumia in Iran, the sixth largest saltwater lake in the world, is shrinking. The lake has lost 90% of its volume in the past two decades due to climate change and unsustainable water management. Home to 102 islands, 40 villages, and 212 species of unique birds, the race is on to conserve Urumia and surrounding wetlands. Supported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, UNDP IRAN is working with farmers along Urumias basin to conserve: ow.ly/GPBaD
