Lake levels still on the rise A recent major storm system in the Great Lakes region delivered a significant amount of precipitation to Lake basins. Severe weather conditions accompanied the storm system that pushed through the region. Temperatures remained below average throughout the region and are expected to continue through Wednesday, May 7. Lakes Superior, Michigan-Huron and St. Clair are 13, 11 and 8 inches, respectively, above their levels from a year ago. Lakes Erie and Ontario are 7 and 8 inches, respectively, above their levels of a year ago. With Lake Superior still two-thirds covered by ice, it is predicted to climb 4 inches. Lakes Michigan-Huron and St. Clair are both expected to rise 5 inches over the next 30 days. Lakes Erie and Ontario are projected to rise 4 and 6 inches, respectively, over the next 30 days.
