Lama Thargey, the teacher of renowned thankha artist Andy Weber, has passed away. He is among the last of those traditionally trained in Tibet prior to its invasion, occupation, and cultural destruction by the Communist Chinese. If you have ever looked at a book on Tibetan Buddhism you very well have seen Webers work. Weber has generously, and I cannot stress that enough, generously assisted my wife Andrea Nerozzi in her rapid progress as a painter and illustrator in the Tibetan tradition. This is the loss of a great master, and it is so critical that the skill and wisdom he learned from his teachers be passed to future generations to preserve the spiritual practice of creating images of enlightenment.
