Land Protection Officers to help control pests in the region As part of Whitsunday Regional Council’s commitment to pest management across the region, Council recently employed two Land Protection Officers one based in Bowen and one based in Collinsville. The Land Protection Officers main responsibilities will be locating and mapping the extent of weed infestations, liaising with local farmers and the community, coordinating local pest management strategies and providing expertise and advice as part of pest management for the region. Over the coming months, the Land Protection Officers will be contacting a variety of landowners regarding the development or renewal of Property Pest Management Plans between Council and landowners.
