Land Use Planning Lil’wat Nation Agricultural Plan – Phase 2 Agricultural Issues and Options Workshop Tuesday, April 22, 2014 1:00 – 4:00 PM Ull’us Community Complex Banquet Hall Facilitators: Darrell Zbeetnoff – Zbeetnoff Agro-Environmental Consulting Michael Mc – Quadra Planning Consultants Phase 2 represents the second of a three phase process to develop an Agricultural Plan for Lil’wat Nation. The purpose of this exercise is to articulate key issues identified in Phase 1 consultations and to evaluate a range of options for responding to the following issues. Issue #1 – Protect Agricultural Land and Resources Issue #2 – Limited Use of Agricultural Lands Issue #3 – Barriers to Current and Potential Agricultural Resource Use Issue #4 – Need to Improve Agricultural Skills of Members Issue #5 – Attracting Capital for Agricultural Development Issue #6 – Generating Jobs and Employment Issue #7 – Access Existing Agricultural Business Opportunities Issue #8 – Creating Band-Based Agricultural Business Initiative Issue #9 – Increase Community Food Self-reliance Issue #10 – Engaging the Community in Agricultural Activities Issue #11 – Administration of Agricultural Resources and Enterprises This information was gathered through the Phase 1 ‘Community Visioning Workshop’ held on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at Xet’olacw Community School. The purpose of the Phase 2 Workshop is to consider the issues and get your input on what the best options will be to address these important agricultural issues.
