Land sinking in Samboora and Kangan: Six residential houses develop cracks Pampore, March 18, CNS:Due to heavy snowfall and incessant rains, half a dozen houses suffered damage in Samboora area of Pampore town in South Kashmir’s Pulwama District. Reports said that panic gripped in Samboora area after people observed earth sinking at different places that resulted in the damage to at least six residential houses. According to CNS, several houses and cattle-sheds of Ghulam Ahmed Kumar son of Muhammad Siduqe, Muhammad Shafi Kumar son of Abdul Rahim, Muhammad Sabir Kumar son of Abdul Qadir, Ghulam Muhammad Kumar son of Abdul Salam, Ghulam Nabi Kumar son of Abdul Qadir and Mushtaq Ahmed Kumar son of Muhammd Ashir have suffered damage in Samboora area. The inhabitants told CNS that they were scared when they observed a portion of land sunk and their houses developed cracks. “We have shifted our families to safer places on our own while the property and domestic belongings are under constant threat due to sinking of the land. Despite bringing the matter into the notice of administration, nothing was done in this regard and no official visited to take stock of the situation,” one of the residents of Samboora said. Additional Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Munir-ul-Islam told CNS that he would sent a team of officials to take stock of the situation. Meanwhile, scores of residents of Ganiwan Sumbal in Gadribal area of Kangan town have moved to safer places after the a stretch of land comprising of 1.5 kilometers started sinking on Tuesday morning. One residential house belonging to Muhmmad Ayoub Aawan collapsed in the process. All the residents along with the children have moved to a safer place while Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal said that he has sent a team to monitor the situation. “I have sent a team headed by Tehsildar who will take appropriate steps to shift them at safer places,” DC Sarmad Hafeez said.
