Langata Road Primary School playground has been grabbed by a group - TopicsExpress

Langata Road Primary School playground has been grabbed by a group of known professional land grabbers acting on behalf of a very senior politician in the government. The grabbing took place over the Christmas holiday when around 50 young men were hired to guard construction workers who worked day and night to fence off the school playground. A front man in the grabbing was also involved in the 2010 Langata Cemetery scandal where taxpayers lost 260million shillings. A school playground is a necessity, not a privilege. This is a blatant infringement upon the rights of the pupils and the community. It is illegal to build a school without a playground according to city by-laws and if this school property is successfully grabbed, the school runs the risk of closure by the same county government that has allowed the grabbing to take place. The school board, which is made up of civil servants, has been threatened by senior people in government and its members warned that they will lose their jobs if they keep insisting the land has been grabbed. The future of the pupils is at risk and their innocence has been violated by the insatiable greed of the owners of Weston Hotel which itself is built on grabbed land. We call on Kenyans to boycott Weston Hotel and all those who are linked to the land grab. On Monday 19th January we shall go to Langata Primary School to donate sports equipment at Langata Primary School and play on the grabbed playground. The playthings we will carry with us shall be donated to the school. Spread the word and join us on the material day and bring something to donate. Scheduled games: · Football · Rounders · Kati · Bladder · Bano · Hop Scotch · Chobo · Shake · 3 sticks · Bendings · Kamares · Mufara https://facebook/events/378529712319607/
