Langley School link up with Harleston Magpies Hockey Club Langley School and Harleston Magpies Hockey Club are delighted to report that, building on their already close links, they have formed an association to promote the development of hockey within the school and the club by way of coaching and the sharing of facilities. Harleston Magpies, which since 2007 has been awarded Clubs 1s t status by England Hockey as part of Sport England Clubmark, offers the keen hockey students at Langley an outstanding opportunity to further develop and diversify their skills while at the same time opening up new opportunities. Recently four Langley students, Victoria Findlay, Toby Price, Anna Tighe and Tom Yallop, have taken advantage of this coaching to progress in England Hockey’s Single System development programme. These students all competed against 60 of the most talented youngsters within their age groups throughout the East of England over two weekends in September with Toby Price progressing to the next stage by being selected for the Saxon Tigers team to compete in the Under 18 Futures Cup at Cannock Hockey Club from 30 October to 2 November. The Langley School Headmaster, Dominic Findlay commented “We are so delighted to have gone into partnership with the Magpies especially at a time when we have some very talented students who are now being offered great opportunities to further develop their skills as they aspire to play at national level”. Murray Graham, chairman of Harleston Magpies, adds “We are very pleased to further our links with Langley School and we look forward to exciting times ahead for both club and school”.
