Lap cat lovers: this cuddly boy wants nothing more than to be your forever friend. Minnettar is an Istanbul street cat whom I was trying to keep alive this snowy week--he was sleeping on a sheet of Styrofoam near my flat and on the very coldest nights was growing non-responsive. Every time I went to feed him, he was torn between wanting to express affection and eating the food I brought him (this despite the fact that he is extremely malnourished), which is why we gave him a Turkish name reflective of his gratitude to his human friends. Since he seemed in danger of dying from exposure, I decided to bring him into my flat, but because I already have critters, I took him to the vet to have him screened for communicable diseases. While we were at it, we had him castrated and treated for worms, etc. Hes now at my flat, purring up a storm--hands down, he is the most affectionate cat Ive ever encountered. Minnettar would bring so much happiness to the right household. Hes very skinny (weighs maybe 1.5 kg), loving, FIV-negative, FeLV-negative, friendly, curious, and sweet. He is very eager to play with my cats and dog (but I am keeping them segregated for now) so I suspect he would integrate well into a household of other animals. Unfortunately, he will go back to the street once hes healed from his operation, as my house is full. I am traveling to the US soon -- if someone in the US would like to adopt him, I can try to see if its possible to bring him with me. Otherwise, an Istanbul-based home would be fabulous.
