(Lara) A question that arises often within our own families and society at large is why do we have to see you Breastfeed, why cant you go feed in private? This gets me going every time! Lets just start with until breastfeeding is seen by society as the norm we actually have to make an extra effort to BF in public. Sounds silly right? But here is the thing, if we hide away and BF people will not adjust to seeing breasts being used to feed our young. Our sons and daughters need to have this exposure to the natural use of the breast so that they wont be working with the same hang ups that we deal with today! I have a friend who has been BFing her babies at my house for ages and (shock, horror lol) Breastfeeds over the top of her shirt. My older boy said to me once, so what, thats what breasts are made for. Amen to that. Thats what they are made for and we can all do our part by Breastfeeding in public, under a cover, under a shirt or over the shirt, it doesnt matter, we are Breastfeeding!
