(Lara) This is anonymous share and similar to many we have heard here on TNP :( Archaic and cruel by the sounds of it and best avoided, lets hope one day these places are a thing of the past! I often read about people recommending sleep training and before I joined this page I tried it and thought I would share my experiences so if anyone recommends it to you you know what to expect. There is a place here in NZ called mother craft and I was struggling and was told it has helped alot of people so in my car and off I went... The nurses seemed lovely when I arrived but it soon changed. They wanted us straight into a strict routine put baby down (7 1/2 months at the time) and leave to cio and they checked her every so often but it broke my heart. I thought i must stick this out im not coping at home. Then suddenly they took my daughter away for the night down the other end of the house type thing we were in... Needless to say i didnt sleep that night and the nurses hated me checking on my baby as i was ruining her sleep time and she needed to cry. How is she meant to sleep with screaming babies everywhere??? The next day i was getting her some breakfast but she was only eating a couple mouthfuls a day ( she was extremely constipated and still is today after starting solids). They started trying to force cereals into her I didnt know how bad they were at that stage I just didnt want her to eat something gluggy that would constipate her more. They wanted me to feed her fake potatoes with cows milk and fake gravey! Hardly I meal for a baby that doesnt eat solids! I told them I wouldnt feed her this stuff and I was told over and over again that it was my fault she didnt sleep because her tummy wasnt full enough. They told me bananas wouldnt be constipating her and it was probably all in my head! They also put a baby to bed when I was there to CIO because she wasnt happy playing on the floor and juat wanted a cuddle! They feed on a schedule so if baby doesnt eat they dont feed the baby again until the schedule says to! It is a horrible place and I do believe it needs to be shutdown I am just so glad I new I had to leave and got out of that hell hole and took my baby home. Please consider all of this before talking about this place or recommending it to people. Thanks.
