Large Capacity Ambulance from the Hannover FD, Germany. Based on a 2006 Mercedes-Benz Citaro O 530, which usually are used as city buses, the Hannover FD operates one as large capacity ambulance. Its dispatched to the scene as soon a class 1 MCI alarm (between 5 and 20 injured people) is set off. Just like a normal ALS ambulance, this one has also all the medical treatment on board. Thus up to 15 injured people can be treated immediately. In case of a class 2 to class 4 MCI alarm the ambulance bus is used as treatment and transportation unit. Besides MCI incidents, it can also carry people weighing up to 880 lbs. The interior is then set up as mobile intensive care unit for hospital transfers.
