All the tenants are very conscious of others and of creating an intentional shared space, and this is a social house, but still a sacred space that we share and respect- and we are seeking a kindred spirit to join us! Renovated old Victorian. Hardwood floors throughout. One shared bathroom with new fixtures/tile floor. New appliances in kitchen, including dishwasher/microwave/food disposal/gas stove. Kitchen is also equipped with blender, toaster, yogurt maker, and food dehydrator. The furniture is all old vintage, and the rooms are painted funky and colorful. Psychedelic artwork. Other than the bedroom available, the house is fully furnished. Laundry room with washer/dryer (which you dont have to pay for- included in utilities). Large comon living area/lounge space great for gatherings, dancing, yoga. Cozy little room at the back of the house that is a tea room/guest room for occasional overnight guests. House is shared with 2 dogs (a medium friendly mutt, and a big dopey/lovable mastiff), and 2 cuddly cats you will fall in love with. Big fenced in backyard thats an ever expanding urban homestead with chickens (fresh organic eggs every day), bunnies, bees, over 90 sq ft organic veggie/herb garden and big private sunny deck (clothing-optional space). Currently in the garden we are growing zuchini, tomatoes, lettuce, arugula, kale, corn, cucumbers, radishes. tons of herbs... Bay Alarm security system with 1-click key fob remote for your convenience. House is located on a quiet street in a good neighborhood (very friendly family neighbors) on the border of Emeryville and Temescal, very close to Berkeley. Just over a mile to MacArthur BART or Ashby BART (midway between them). Easy access by car to I-80 as well as Hwy 24, close to all the Emeryville shopping (Target, IKEA, Home Depot, etc.), and Berkeley Bowl West. One shared driveway parking spot and ample street parking. ABOUT US (WHO YOUD BE LIVING WITH): There are 3 of us youd be sharing the house with: M- cis female, early 20s, studied biology and works in environmental activism, friendly and outgoing, shares a room with W (her partner). Along with W, regularly works on organizing a theme camp for Burning Man, spins contact staff, makes cobbler that would impress your mother. W- cis male, mid 20s, studied classical guitar and works in music retail, classical musician and electronic music producer/occasional dj, spends a lot of time with M on organizing a Burning Man theme camp, spins poi. Shares a room with M, his partner. Currently perfecting the perfect Boba Tea recipe. B- cis female, early 30s, master tenant. Studied biology and studio art. Works as a veterinary technician, starting a clothing line and costume design business and so also works from home a lot. Loves gardening, crafting, sewing, spinning fire (poi. fans, wand), cooking, herbal remedies, sustainable living, recycling, art/music festivals, and other generally rad stuff. Extroverted/social, creative, courteous, a bit silly/goofy. Mostly vegetarian. Pretty much all her spare time right now is spent rehearsing for fire conclave for Burning Man. YOU: ***we strongly prefer someone in their 30s-ish...(including late 20s, early 40s, etc) to balance the age ranges of the house- but dont let that stop you from applying if you think youre the right fit ***we are all burners and flow artists/musicians/dancers of sorts... it would be bonus points if you felt like you fit into this scene, though its not essential, as long as you are ok with coming home to music/art/flow/dancing occurring in the common areas at times (during reasonable hours of course) -male/female/trans/straight/queer/black/white/hispanic/asian/whatever- its all good with us! -bring chill/good/positive vibes with you, able to communicate with clarity and compassion, conscious of your own needs as well as those of others, enjoy living in a shared home and contributing your awesome unique energy to our collective! Dont just live here- join our community! THIS IS WHAT WE VALUE MOST -must be able to pay all your rent on time beginning of every month -must be animal lover and not be allergic or overwhelmed by big dogs, but not come with your own pets cuz were at maximum animal capacity... this is a great home for someone who loves pets but doesnt want the responsibility. -must be 420-friendly- it is occasionally indulged both inside and out, and this cant be an issue for you -must be capable of locking doors/windows and setting the alarm if youre last to leave- this is non-negotiable (and really not that hard)! -into cleaning up after yourself in common areas!!! doing your dishes in a timely manner is an absolute requirement! and you should be into sharing bathroom cleaning duties -you should want to be friends with your housemates... Have your own life, but lets live in a friendly intentional home where we can chill together or occasionally share a meal, go out dancing or grab a drink -strongly prefer no cigarette smoking (but herb is fine inside or out) -regularly having over friends or hosting small gatherings is fine and encouraged, but no ragers or open-door community events inviting strangers/the random general public into the house please! -dont have to be vegetarian, but if you arent then just be capable of not using Bs pans to cook meat in. thanks!
