Last Days Perilous Times 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 13-16 Posted on june 07/2013 by Thakkah Simon 1 Timothy 3:1-5, 13-16 1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; 15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. Commentary: We are living in the last days meaning the last days before the second coming of our Redeemer. Verse one carefully and directly warns us “in the last days perilous times shall come”. We are indeed living in perilous times. Verses 1-5 and 13 detail many of the wicked things that will take place. If we look around we can see it all happening around us. The list is fairly obvious as to what will take place. I only wish to touch on a few things. Blasphemers: In spite of the Ten Commandments stating thou shalt not take the name of the Lord Thy God in vain I see people walking around wearing a fashionable and ornate cross necklace blaspheming the name of our Lord. It is certainly on TV, the movies and much of the music. Why? How can this be so when there so many places throughout the Bible that addresses the issue? Were we not taught in Sunday School about the Ten Commandments and other parts of the Bible that tell us not to blaspheme? Disobedient to Parents: Whether it is the popular culture we live in or the fault of parents not teaching respect or both, disobedience to parents is a real problem. Of course parents need to be worthy of respect but children need to honor their father and mother. Unthankful: We need to be grateful for what we recieve. We should not possess the attitude of entitlement. We should never go to bed without thanking our Father in Heaven for all He has blessed us with. We need to thank those around us for the good they do.
