Last Dec. 29 was my fathers death anniversary. It was also the day when I received a news of another death - a death of someone so special in my heart. She changed the way I looked at life back then: She was my number one fan when almost everybody wanted to ignore me... She taught me how to sing and play my first guitar... She always entertained me with her captivating voice, endlessly singing Kuh Ledesmas Dito ba. She introduced me to a loving God when nobody dared to even teach me how to pray... When I first felt the need to express my emotional bearing, she was there happily accepting it. Our friendship and love lasted for almost eight years. I was there listening intently while in pain when she explained the reason of her saying goodbye to me - She just wanted a better life for her family. She unselfishly told me, You know how much I loved you, but let me first attend to the needs of my parents and younger siblings. Since then, I learned the meaning of love as letting go and setting free of ones beloved. As time passes by, we never cut the line that still binds us... We become good friends, sharing the ups and downs of life... Thanks to the social media! As I tried to become a good servant of God, she was definitely an epitome of a perfect mother to her children... Her sudden and tragic death can never be justified in a civilized society and in a humane world, can hardly be accepted. She is too young to face death. Two decades ago, I had the courage to let you go as we prayed together inside the Baclaran Church. Today, for the second time, I would like to let you go with a heavy heart... But let me assure you of my prayers for you everyday. PAALAM MERIAM! Heaven is the answer to your all-time favorite song, Dito ba? May you truly rest in Gods peace!
