Last Friday I had the honor of traveling to Abilene, TX to present Petty Hunter with a 2013 USA Network Characters Unite Award and a $5000 donation. Our first of ten awards to be handed out in the next few months. Petty is the Executive Director of Neighborhoods in Progress and the President of the Abilene/Taylor County NAACP. Always at the forefront of social change, Petty was part of the first racially integrated class at Abilene High School and the first African-American to letter in football. He is a true inspiration and continues to give back to his community in the most positive way. His passion and energy are infectious and I am grateful that I was able to meet him and I look forward to another amazing Characters Unite Award season.
