Last Friday evening. The sun is no longer on the water and the visibility is better. Olly is out, Benny is in his pot, but is not settled and doesnt stay long. Numerous fish arrive on the scene, half grey, half brown Parrot fish, dark-bronze fork-tailed Damsel fish, various silver Sea-bream and a variety of wrasse, including a brightly coloured Ornate Wrasse which seems to be coveting Bennys pot. Then in close up we see the streamlined Thick- lipped Grey mullet; repeatedly passing in front of the camera. They are followed by a wonderful cascade of Salps (xilpa) or Salema; showing off their well rounded bodies and lateral yellow stripes. They feed on seaweed, and taste like it. Lastly a lone Seabass heralds Ollys return with his entourage. As always a Painted Comber is in attendance and hovers overhead. It only leaves when Olly is settled.
