Last Saturday’s event “Trapped Out in Twerkville” at The Handlebar was the most fulfilling night of Karma Groove’s 11-year history. We have been producing events on a consistent level for years, but only in the past year have we allowed ourselves to dream of producing a magical night such as Saturday. I’ve been procrastinating putting my gratitude onto paper for everyone who made this event possible bc everytime I would make an attempt, I would start writing a short story… and ain’t nobody got time for that. First of all, thank you to DJ RA for planting the seed of bringing Caked Up to Greenville in my head. Coupled with Styles & Complete, we were confident this event would change the direction of Greenville’s EDM culture. After the event was booked (way back in December), Ra then expressed how important it was that I accompany him & Phillip Allen to Atlanta to take notes from the mighty machine that is IRIS. With our vision set on producing a vibe & experience such as Iris, the Karma Grooves team got to work and produced the most unforgettable night of EDM that Greenville has seen in over a decade. Who is Karma Grooves? Karma Grooves is a team-oriented & dedicated group of music lovers (not a DJ collective) who are committed to bringing the EDM experience to the Upstate. Area veterans SCARLETT, KRISP, & STERLING provide professionalism, wisdom, & experience, while RA, his manager – PHILLIP ALLEN, & ALEX TRAXLER provide motivation, determination, & a new, fresh, BIG vision. These guys did a lot of the behind-the-scenes work leading up to the show, as well work their ass off all day the day of – especially Phillip & Sterling. I can’t thank any of you enough and I look forward to seeing what damage we can do the remainder of 2014! Thank you to CAKED UP for working it out so that Greenville was the ONLY non Big Gigantic stop on their current tour. With a top notch performance and energy, these boys are definitely on their way to the top! Thank you to STYLES & COMPLETE for rocking with us in Clemson the night prior and for destroying the Handlebar as well! Thank you to DJ RA for his massive opening set as well as for his help in ensuring this event went off proper! Expect big things from him this year, RA is the truth. Thank you to SCARLETT & BABYGIRL for getting the Main Stage rocking early on! These ladies have been consistently after it for over 10 years! Thank you to MPAC, MAURICE, WOODY, & TREY IVESTER for keeping the Bar Area grooving! All of these guys are some of my personal favorites & are constantly putting in work in the Upstate! Thank you to the KARTEL BROTHERS for supplying sound & lights for the evening! If you ever need quality sound & lights for an event, as well as professionalism – hit em up. Thank you to the KG Street Team for helping spread the word on the event, for getting flyers and posters out, and for being awesome to work with! Thank you to the CHAOTIC CUPCAKES for coming down from Charlotte to twerk it up for us! Thank you to STEVEN WILLIAM KEY, SKYLER RADDATZ, & SCARLETT for their awesome pics & videos from the night! Can’t wait to see what is to come! Thank you to ERICH & Q WAVE LASERS for the amazing laser addition! Thank you to KRUSHMODE for the DJ façade! Wait until you see the stage setup for our first collaboration in May! Thank you to NITE LITE NITE LIFE, DIRTY CIRCUS APPAREL, & TARAHBELLE JEWELRY for vending the show. Always a pleasure working with ya’ll! Thank you to MJ making the trek from ATL & introducing CAKED UP! Definitely added to the magic of the night!
