Last September I had a rare Tumor removed called a Pheocromosytoma. Pheos are tumors that grow on or in your Adrenal Glands. Mine was the size of a golf ball when they removed it. The reason I am writing this post is because I just had a long conversation with a young woman who came to our home to adopt one of our cats. I told her that I was re-homing him because of health issues and I began telling her about my Pheo. She began to cry and I was totally dumbfounded. She then began to tell me that she has what her doctors told her was Anxiety causeing her to have heart palpatations. And was put on a antidepressant with no relief with her symptoms. She has seen Cardioligists and had several tests all showing her heart is fine. I too remember the battery of tests and medications all of which did not help.I was lucky that both myself and children lived threw childbirth. Pheos blast large amounts of adrenalin into your system causeing High Blood Pressure, Diabetes, Vomiting, Heart palpatations, stress urination, inability to sleep, shaking. I could not drink any beverage with caffine .Episodes come and go with no ryme or reason. Finally I wound up in the ER in Hypertensive Crisis due to having a uncontrolable bp of 230 over 120. Someone was watching over me and prevented me from having a stroke. I was discharged with a bag full of blood pressure meds that did not work. A month later by chance I came down with Bursitis in my hip. When they did a MRI they found the Tumor on my Adrenal Gland. I immediately was put on a regamin of beta blockers to prep me for surgery in 3 weeks. During my 6 hour surgery they lost me twice and brought me back. I am lucky to be alive and symptom free. My right hip does have paralisis due to nerve damage. But I think I am still lucky! The moral to this story is that if you are having any of the above symptoms with you heart palps. Ask to have a 24 hour adrenal Urine test.
