Last Sunday 30th November, SPRS responded to a Police request to tow in a boat that had capsized in Port Phillip Heads, thankfully, the two occupants had been rescued by Water Police who were waiting for our arrival at the scene which turned out to be approximately 2km out into Bass Strait. SP2 left Blairgowrie at 1.10 p.m. with a Skipper and four crew on board and arrived at the scene at 1.45 p.m. to take over the tow. Due to the rough conditions the upturned vessel could only be towed at between 1 - 2 knots so we knew we were in for a slow trip back to Queenscliff. SP2 arrived at the entrance the Queenscliff boat harbour at around 4 p.m. and was escorted by Water Police through The Cut to an area where the vessel could be lifted from the water. Tony, our Skipper did a great job under difficult conditions as did all crew on board.
