Last Sunday I spent the evening in lockup with ten other protesters. The only reason we were able to be released when were is because the queer community mobilized immediately to locate us, reach out to our families and put public pressure on the station that was holding us. People worked vigilantly and tirelessly to get us out, many whom I did not know. I want to say a public and sincere thank you to everyone who supported us every way that they did. The love, wisdom, strength and strategy of my community amazed me, and I feel incredibly supported as we struggle to continue figuring out this work. One of the protesters arrested with us is a man who lost his son earlier this year to police violence in Harvey, IL. I wanted to share a link to his story which has not been widely publicized, and also contains ways to support him and his family in the wake of their loss. Black Power. Queer Power. Worker Power. Indigenous Power. Long live militant resistance, not just peaceful protest. enewspf/latest-news/latest-local/55358-family-of-charles-brown-murdered-by-harvey-police-demand-justice-from-city-of-harvey.html
