Last Sunday, amid the FIFA World Cup final cheering din, a heroine fell, and so did her pen. I did not know Nadine Gordimer beyond her works to comment much on her remarkable life, whose brightest light s, for me, were ressillience and dilligence. She used her engaging style to openly defy racial prejudices, applying herself to fighting the very discriminations her colour and time predisposed her to perpetrate. I am familiar with only a few of her brilliant literary works. The fact that she won the Nobel Prize for literature confirms that she was an outstanding writer. With her passing away, there is no doubt that the world has lost a champion, whose legacy will run through many, many generations. In mourning her, I take up her collection of short stories to read Amnesty, again. #RIPNadineGordimer
